Over-the-Rhine Historic Townhome
For this project, Chris Gorman Homes completed the revitalization of a classic Cincinnati townhome, blending modern comforts with historic charm.
The project began with an emphasis on recreating the architectural integrity of the original structure, which featured traditional brickwork and intricate wood detailing. Chris Gorman Homes focused on reimagining the home while maintaining these key historical elements.
Previously cramped and outdated, the new kitchen was designed to be an open, airy space, perfect hub for entertaining. Custom cabinetry, quartz countertops and stainless-steel appliances were combined to give the kitchen a sleek, contemporary feel. This design included a large island perfect for both additional workspace and casual dining.
The new living areas feature refinished hardwood floors, fresh paint and upgraded lighting fixtures. In keeping with the townhome's original character, the team included crown molding and baseboards in our design, which adds elegance and continuity throughout the space. The main area also includes a modern fireplace with a mantel and custom tile surround.
The bathrooms in this townhome in Cincinnati glow with high-end materials such as marble tile, frameless glass shower enclosures and designer fixtures. The primary suite was reimagined to include a spacious walk-in closet and a luxurious ensuite bath with a double vanity and soaking tub.
Energy-efficient windows and updated HVAC systems were installed, improving the home's comfort and reducing its environmental impact.
LEED or “Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design” is a method for quantifying ways to intentionally build with energy efficiency and environmentally friendly building materials, to reduce energy consumption and waste, manage resources and reduce operating costs.
LEED certification system consists of four levels: Certified (40 – 49 points), Silver (50 – 59 points), Gold (60 – 79 points) and Platinum (80+ points). Chris Gorman Homes was awarded a Platinum LEED certification for this Over-the-Rhine historic townhome. This means all the environmental aspects had to be maximized. Only about 10 percent of structures worldwide qualify for the platinum LEED ranking.
This project by Chris Gorman Homes is a perfect example of how our team can merge historic Cincinnati style with modern luxury to create something fresh and spectacular. Love the style of this townhome in Cincinnati? Contact Chris Gorman Homes to learn more about building your dream custom home.
